I Just Can't Do It....
I Just Can’t Do It….
I will venture to say that most of us, at some point, have said this:
“I just can’t do it.”
We might be faced with challenges that just seem too overwhelming. Perhaps, we feel defeated and/or unaccomplished. This mindset can have negative effects on us and, quite frankly, those around us. Often, when feeling we've failed to overcome a challenge or struggle, we then feel bad about ourselves. Yes, this is a health and fitness blog, and I do want to specifically address health. However, I believe whole-heartedly that we can apply the following to whatever the obstacle in front of us may be… You see, we always hear that ‘a lack of time’ is the number one reason people don’t engage in some sort of exercise regiment or program. For a long time, I thought that was true, but then I came to realize this: I believe that the real number one reason we ‘just can’t do it’ is that we undervalue ourselves. Think about that for a minute… Remember when you were a kid and you got that toy that you absolutely loved? You wouldn’t let anyone play with it, and you managed to take great care of it, right? Why do you think that is? Easy: you valued that toy. As adults, we get in this mode of taking care of our family, kids, house, job, etc.; As a result, we start chipping away at that focus on taking care of ourselves. We gradually lose value in ourselves, but we rarely see it that way. We just look at it like, “Well, I just don’t have time to workout”. Please don’t misinterpret me- I am not saying that ‘you don’t like yourself.’ Instead, I’m asking you to take a hard look at your day and answer THIS question truthfully: ‘Do I value myself?’ Do I really not have enough time?? Guys, we want you to take care of yourself, and if you’re not ready to hit the gym, I totally understand. Maybe just start by making better food choices, work on moving more, or try exercising at home. And if you need or want our help, at any point, we’ll be there for you.
